Racing season in Porsche Carrera Cup is in full spate – four races of the French series and three Italian stages are all over. And now, halfway to the final, it's high time to study out the situation in standings when the participants of Porsche Cup are preparing themselves for the new march on qualification points.
Porsche Carrera Cup France
Four stages of seven are finished, at this qualification points have been charged only for three of them – Le Mans race, notwithstanding its brightness and thrill is not in PCCF classification.
French series has full house this year: 26 pilots are participating! Come Ledogar is leading in the overall classification with three victories and 105 qualification points. Maxime Jousse who has won one of the two Ledenon races has 13 points less. The third place has Gael Castelli: he has only 74 points and no victory yet, but everybody knows that he has so bright and expressive driving manner. So the leaders are not advised to relax.
In Porsche Carrera Cup France our attention is locked, of course, on Division B of the gentlemen drivers, because the Tsunami RT, Oleksandr Gaidai is struggling for the points in this very class. But, because of the PCCI and PCCF contemporaneity, our team faced the difficult choice between the French Cup stage in Ledenon and the Italian race in Monza. Oleksandr Gaidai preferred Monza, sacrificing the possibility to earn qualification points in PCCF and having gone down to the sixth row in Division B standings.
Laurent Pasquali (112 points) has the steady leading position in this class. The second row is represented by Cristophe Lapierre (95 points), and third - by Jean Glourier (93 points). We hope that in the beginning of September, after the Magny-Cours stage, the situation will change, and the Tsunami RT pilot will be able to approach the leaders of the series.
Porsche Carrera Cup Italy
Porsche Carrera Cup Italy, actually, hasn't reached the midseason yet: only three stages of seven included in 2014 calendar are behind. But three races are enough to see for certain the excellence of Matteo Cairoli (77 points). The pilot who celebrated his 18th anniversary only on the second race of the season, doesn't know the word "impossible" at all and makes such things on the track that give a thrill to the viewers. Cairoli's performances are always the huge pleasure for the viewers. Even if they are other pilots' fans!
But let's leave it all and return to numbers. Vito Postiglione and Gianluca Giraudi are 21 points behind the leader. Edoardo Liberati is very close to them in the standings.
Oleksandr Gaidai has the sixth position in the absolute classification of PCCI having 8 points less than his aforetime competitor Alberto de Amicis.
The nearest stage of Porsche Carrera Cup Italy will take place on the French track of Paul Ricard autodrome in the end of August. The racing season continues and a lot of surprises on the circuits of Italy and France are waiting for us. And let's expect pleasant surprises!
