95 years of races. 67 Formula 1. 5793 meters in one minute and 21 seconds. Monza is a history. Monza is a legend. The final of the next Porsche Carrera Cup Italy is about to become history of Monza.
It is quite awkward to tell about Monza; it is like telling about the fact that twice two is four. Everybody knows about it, there are only three so famous circuits in the world. However, Monza is compared favorably with the Monaco GP circuit because the former is located not on city streets, and with Nurburgring – because its name can be pronounced without a crackjaw.
We have already told you about the atmosphere in Monza. So, let us talk not about the circuit itself, but about the upcoming race because the conclusive weekend of the Italian Cup has already started.
Riccardo Pera is the leader of the series followed by the Tsunami RT driver Alessio Rovera with the gap of 13 points. Only 40 qualification points can be obtained during the round, but you must not forget to win the qualification and demonstrate the best lap in both races of the weekend for that.
11 points divide Tsunami RT from the leader, Ebimotors team, in the team classification.
There is one more classification where Lino Curti needs only 5 points to catch up with Niccolo Mercatali – it is Michelin Cup. Surpassing Mercatali means becoming the bronze prize-winner of 2017. It is a decent goal!
Let's have a closer look. There are three classifications, three team drivers (Rovera, Lino and Carlo Curti), and three days in Monza. We begin!
After the free practices on Friday the two segments of qualification start at Saturday at 10:05 a.m. Till 10:50 a.m. we will already know who gets the first two qualification points for the pole position of this weekend.
This driver whose name is unknown yet will lead the peloton in the first race when the starting signal light goes out at 4:45 p.m.
The second race starts on Sunday, at 10:10 a.m. 28 more minutes plus one lap, and the Porsche Carrera Cup Italy season will become history. Monitor the situation on our Facebook page.
The series organizers are already making a wreath for a winner, and there is the persistent scent of laurel leaves in the long corridors of the Monza circuit administrative building. It is a metaphor, of course. But it is the only aberration from the truth we allow. The racing track is a place for fair competition!
